Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) is coming to myEnergy

To enhance the security of our systems and protect sensitive data, , from 1 July 2024 all myEnergy need to use Multi Factor Authentication (MFA) to log into their account.

MFA is a cyber security measure that requires users to provide two or more factors of identity, such as a password and a verification code. MFA is one of the most effective ways to protect your information and account against unauthorised access. By requiring an additional layer of verification, we can reduce the risk of security breaches.

How to login using MFA

After entering your email address and password in myEnergy, you’ll be prompted to select a verification method. Choose email or SMS (if available) and a 6 digit code will be sent to you. Enter this to complete the login process.

Frequently asked questions

What is Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)?
MFA is an additional layer of security in the login process. It combines two or more independent credentials such as what you know (password) and what you have (verification code).

How does MFA work?
When you log in, you will be prompted to enter your password. Afterward, you will need to verify your identity by entering a code sent to your email address or mobile phone number.

How do I add my mobile phone number for MFA?
After you have logged in using MFA via email, you can add or update your mobile phone number in the account/profile section of our portal.

What if I enter the verification code incorrectly?
You have 5 attempts to enter the correct verification code. If you exceed this limit, your account will be temporarily locked. Your account will be automatically unlocked when 1 hour has passed without any further login attempts.

What should I do if I don’t receive the verification code?
Check your spam/junk email folder. If available, choose an alternative verification method. If the issue persists, contact us for assistance.
