customer services

United Energy Distribution Pty Ltd (UED) has many services available to our customers. We also offer special services to our customers with disabilities.

UED is continually striving to provide service excellence to our customers. The following services are available and we welcome your feedback.

Short Message Service (SMS) Outage Updates

To assist customers seeking information about major electricity outages, UED has introduced a 24/7 automated SMS service for its customers.

UED recognises that many customers may not have access to a landline phone when power is not available. The automated SMS service provides an alternative for our customers to obtain access to outage information quickly. This additional service demonstrates UED’s commitment to ensure customers are kept informed during periods of extreme events.

Customers now have three alternatives when seeking major outage information.

  • Internet: Click Here
  • 24/7 faults and emergencies: 132 099
  • Automated SMS

Customers can use the automated SMS service by following the steps below:

  1. Send (SMS) the postcode of your supply address to 0447 100 333
  2. You will receive an automated response confirming if an outage is current at the supply address. An estimated restoration time will be provided if available.

For example, if the supply address was located in the suburb of Mount Waverley, an SMS should be sent to 0447 100 333 with '3149'.

If there are no major outages recorded for the postcode, an automated response will advise the customer to call the applicable faults and emergencies number to speak with a consultant and register their outage.

If you are not located in the UED distribution area, you will receive a message on your mobile with information on your correct distribution area and telephone number for faults and emergencies.

Please note that the SMS number is used for SMS updates only. This number is not a voice service. To speak with a faults and emergency consultant please telephone 132 099.

**Tip – Saving this number in to your mobile phone will provide you with a more convenient way of utilising this service.
